Ollie, the Chihuahua, the Aston and the Pass!

17August 2022

Massive congratulations to Oliver Gillam who has just passed his test this afternoon, 17th August 2022, on his FIRST ATTEMPT, with only 4 small driving faults. Well done Ollie!

Your test was nearly sabotaged by an escaped Chihuahua, which just happened to run into the road in front of you, on a dangerous bend, at the exact same time that a speeding Aston Martin was approaching from the opposite direction. I must admit, both me and the examiner were picturing a squashed dog! But you saved the day, the dog, and your test result, by slowing right down, and taking extreme care to deal with the situation. The examiner even complimented the safe way you dealt with things in the heat of the moment!

I’m always extremely pleased for all of my pupils when they pass their test, but because I’ve actually known you since you were born, and I am great friends with your Nan, your result is extra special.

I know how much you were hoping to pass, before starting your final year in 6th form. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all of our conversations and laughs during lessons. I only wish you’d been my English teacher when I was at school, as I’ve learned more about William Shakespeare whilst in the car with you, than I did in class!

Are you going to take over from your lovely mum Nicki Allen as the family taxi driver now? Your mum has been absolutely fantastic, taking you out as often as she could for private practice. She deserves a medal.

Good luck with your A levels next year, and I hope you have many happy and safe years of driving ahead.
