Jelena is a fantastic illustrator and one of her latest works has been published by New Frontier Publishing ISBN: 9781912678112. It’s called Africa Day and was created in collaboration with Chi Mary Kalu.
It was inspired by events at a cultural festival. It pictures a little boy’s excitement and discovery of interesting and colourful features of African culture, on a day out with his mum. It is a story that depicts a child’s curiosity and appreciation of culture that ignites conversation and promotes literacy.
The book can be bought on Amazon or in Waterstones and would be a great way to support the work of a local illustrator – one who enriches life in our neighbourhood.
There are great review for the book, ranging from ‘My children loved the book.’ to ‘Brilliant idea! A fabulous way to educate children about other cultures!
This could perhaps turn into an excellent series? Fantastic illustrations, so full of colour and cheer.’
One reviewer said, ‘The illustrator Jelena Jordanovic-Lewis has captured the exuberance of the festival on every page with her kinetic artwork in earthy tones. I totally recommend this book for any child of 3 and over and think it would be an excellent addition to any school library.’
Why not consider it for a Christmas Present for the little ones in your family?
