21November 2024
Fabulous 225-mile Passplus drive with Nikhil Joshi. We started off from Liverpool City Centre on the morning of November 18, 2024, making our way through the outskirts of the city to get on the M58, then the M6 motorway. We stopped for a coffee at a motorway service station, then continued our journey to Hawkshead, Bowness, then Ambleside, where we had a picturesque lunch stop, overlooking Lake Windermere.
After looking at a map of the Lake District, we decided to drive via the scenic, but challenging Kirkstone Pass to Glenridding. We encountered some sleet and low cloud, aswell as some loose sheep and a smashed up car. There were several occasions where the roads had hidden dips, blind summits, steep inclines and narrow stretches with occasional passing places. Lots of concentration and anticipation and planning was required to keep us safe. We had a few photo stops, before arriving at Glenridding and beautiful Ullswater. After driving further north to Penrith, we got back onto the M6 for the long drive back to Liverpool. Feeling tired, we decided it was sensible to have another coffee stop, before the final hour when you got the experience of driving in darkness on the motorway, with rain and spray from lorries and other vehicles to contend with.
It was a great drive overall, and hopefully, today’s experience will give you a big confidence boost for the week away in the Lakes which you have already booked for your family later this month.
I thoroughly enjoyed our autumnal Lake District road trip, and it was lovely to see how happy you are with your gorgeous new car. I hope you enjoy many more adventures with your family.
